1. 개요

63회 시상식은 1991년 3월 25일 LA Dorothy Chandler Pavilion에서 개최되었고 전년에 이어 Billy Crystal(빌리 크리스탈)이 2년 연속 진행했다. 케빈 코스트너의 늑대와 춤을(Dances with Wolves)이 12개 부문 후보에 올라 7개 주요부문을 수상한다. Dick Tracy(딕 트레이시)는 7개 후보에 올라 3개 부문을 수상했다. Reversal of Fortune(행운의 반전)의 제레미 아이언스가 남우 주연상을 스릴러 영화 미저리의 케시 베이츠가 여우주연상을 수상했고, 사랑과 영혼의 우피 골드버그아 여우 조연상을 수상했는데 흑인여성으로는 2번째 영광이었다. 좋은 친구들의 조 페시가 남우 조연상을 수상했다. 대부 3편은 7개 후보에 올라 무관의 제왕으로 그치고 말았다.
