1. 개요

71회 시상식은 1999년 3월 21일 LA Dorothy Chandler Pavilion에서 개최되었고 Whoopi Goldberg(우피 골드버그)가 진행했다. Shakespeare in Love(셰익스피어 인 러브)가 13개 후보에 올라 7개 주요 부문을 수상한다. Saving Private Ryan(라이언 일병 구하기)가 11개 후보에 5개 부문을 수상했고 Life Is Beautiful(인생은 아름다워)이 7개 후보에 올라 3개 부문을 수상했다.
