1. 개요

70회 시상식은 1998년 3월 23일 LA Shrine Auditorium에서 개최되었고 Billy Crystal이 진행했다. (통산 6번째), 타이타닉이 14개 최다 후보에 올라 11개 부문을 수상하며 벤허와 더불어 아카데미 최다 수상작이 된다. As Good as It Gets는 남녀 주연상을 모두 다 가져가는데 잭 니콜슨은 오스카 상을 3번 받은 4번째 배우가 된다. Good Will Hunting은 각본상과 로빈 윌리엄스이 남우조연상을 L.A. Confidential은 킴 베이싱어는 여우조연상을 수상했고 각색상을 수상한다. 이 외의 영화는 한 개 씩의 트로피를 가져갔다. 타이타닉의 해였다.
