1. 개요

49회 시상식은 1977년 3월 28일 LA Dorothy Chandler Pavilion에서 개최되었고 Richard Pryor, Jane Fonda, Ellen Burstyn, Warren Beatty 등이 진행했다. Peter Finch가 사후 수상을 받는 첫 배우가 된다. (이후 조커역의 히스 레저), 여우조연상 Beatrice Straight는 극중 5분 40초라는 최소 분량으로 수상한 기록을 남겼다. Network, Rocky가 10개부문 최다 후보에 올랐고 영화 Network(네트워크)는 남우주연상, 여우주연상, 여우조연상, 각본상 등 주요 4개 부문을 수상한다. 그리고 무명의 스탤론은 세계적인 스타로 만들어준 영화 록키가 작품상과 감독상, 편집상 3개 부문을 수상한다.
