1. 요약

25회 시상식은 1953년 3월 19일 할리우드 RKO Pantages Theatre, 뉴욕의 NBC International Theatre에서 동시에 열렸다. Bob Hope (Hollywood), Conrad Nagel (emcee), Fredric March (New York City)가 다중 진행을 맡았다. 최초로 TV로 중계되었던 해이며, 서부 할리우드와 동부의 뉴욕에서 동시에 열린 첫 시상식이었다. The Greatest Show on Earth(지상 최대의 쇼)가 작품상을 수상했고, The Bad and the Beautiful이 5개 부문을 수상해 최다 수상작이 되었고, 가장 많이 노미네이트 되었던 작품은 High Noon, Moulin Rouge, The Quiet Man으로 각기 7개 부문에 후보에 올랐다.
