1. 요약

24회 시상식은 1952년 3월 20일 할리우드 RKO Pantages Theatre에서 열렸다. Danny Kaye가 진행을 맡았다. An American in Paris (파리의 미국인)이 작품상을 포함해 총 6개 부문을 수상했고, 가장 많이 노미네이트 된 작품은 A Streetcar Named Desire(욕망이라는 이름의 전차)로 12개 부문에 올라 4개 부문을 수상했다. 참고로 An American in Paris (파리의 미국인)은 바람과 함께 사라지다 이후 12년만에 컬라 영화가 작품상을 수상하는 기록으로 남는다. 이때까지는 여전히 흑백 영화가 다수였던 것. 남우주연상을 수상한 험프리 보가트는 1899년생으로 19세기 출신 남자배우의 마지막 수상자로 기록된다.
