1. 요약

2차 세계대전 종전후 처음 열린 18회 시상식은 1946년 3월 7일 캘리포니아의 그로만즈 차이니즈 극장 (Grauman's Chinese Theater)에서 2연 연속 열렸다. James Stewart와 Bob Hope가 공동진행을 맡았다. 종전을 축하하는 분위기 속에 진행이 되었고, 사회성 짙은 영화 The Lost Weekend (잃어버린 주말‘ 빌리 와일더 감독)가 작품상을 포함해 총 4개 부문을 수상했다. 참고로 The Lost Weekend는 아카데미 작품상과 황금 종려상(Palme d'Or)을 최초로 받은 작품이다. 여우 주연상을 받은 Joan Crawford은 당시 폐렴을 앓고 있어서 시상식날 밤에 병원에서 트로피를 받았다.
