1. 개요

81회 시상식은 2009년 2월 22일 LA Kodak Theatre에서 개최되었고 Hugh Jackman(휴 잭맨)이 진행했다. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button(벤자민 버튼의 시계는 거꾸로 간다)가 13개 최다 후보에 올라 3개의 상을 가져갔고 Slumdog Millionaire(슬럼독 밀리어네어)가 10개 후보에 올라 작품상을 포함해 8개 최다수장작이 된다. 조커 역을 맡았던 히스 레저 (Heath Ledger)가 남우조연상을 수상해 1977년 피터 핀치 (Peter Finch)이후 사후 상을 받은 2번째 배우가 된다. 숀펜은 남우주연상을 2번 수상한 9번째 배우가 되고 케이트 윈슬렛이 여우주연상을 수상했다.
