1. 개요

79회 시상식은 2007년 2월 25일 LA Kodak Theatre에서 개최되었고 Ellen DeGeneres(엘렌)이 진행했다. Dreamgirls(드림걸즈)가 8개 후보에 올라 2개 수상에 그쳤고 무간도 리메이크 The Departed(디파티드)가 5개 후보에 올라 4개 부문을 수상해 이해 최다 수상작이 된다. 특히 이 영화로 마틴 스콜세지 감독이 아카데미에서는 처음으로 감독상을 받았고 그의 오랜 친구인 프란시스 포드 코폴라, 조지 루카스, 스티븐 스필버그 감독이 상을 수여해 주었다.
