1. 개요

64회 시상식은 1992년 3월 30일 LA Dorothy Chandler Pavilion에서 개최되었고 Billy Crystal(빌리 크리스탈)이 3년 연속 진행했다. 양들의 침묵이 7개 후보에 올라 주요 부문 5개 상을 수상했고, 터미네이터2가 4개의 상을 가져간다. Bugsy는 10개 최다 후보에 올랐지만 2개의 트로피에 만족한다. JFK 역시 8개 후보중 2개 부문을 수상한다. 디즈니 애니메이션 Beauty and the Beast(미녀와 야수)가 음악상과 주제상 2개 부문을 수상한다. 공포영화 최초의 작품상 수상작 양들의 침묵의 조디포스터는 통산 2번째 여우 주연상을 수상하고 안소니 흡킨스는 역대 최소 시간의 남우주연상 수상자로 기론된다.
