1. 요약

17회 시상식은 1945년 3월 15일 캐릴포니아의 그로만즈 차이니즈 극장 (Grauman's Chinese Theater)에서 열렸다.  John Cromwell과 Bob Hope가 공동 진행했다. 17회부터는 최초로 ABC 라디오를 통해 전국에 생중계되었다. 작품성 후보를 5편으로 처음 제한했고다. 그리고 최초이며 마지막으로 같은 영화에 출연한 동일 배우가 주연상과 조연상 동시에 후보에 올랐는데, 영화 Going My Way에서 아버지 역을 맡은 Barry Fitzgerald (베리 피치제랄드)가 그 주인공이다. (조연상 수상) 그리고 Going My Way는 10개 부문에 노미네이트 되어 작품상을 포함해 총 7개 부문으로 이 해 최다 수상 영화가 되었다.
